Waikalua Loko I`a is having its Lā Hana “community Workday” on Saturday Sept 12, 2015 from 8am-12pm. They’d love to have you come and kōkua their stewardship efforts in “revitalizing ” their ancient Hawaiian Fishpond. Their projects for the day will be:
- Invasive seaweed removal in the pond
- Mangrove and silt clear out
- Kuapa (dry stacking rockwall makai side)
- Building a roof for our leaking container
They will provide water and a light lunch at the end of the day, and will also give out certificates if you’re interested, just let them know ….If you can come early to help with setup and parking please let them know (see you at 730am if you can.
Bring:
- ‘Ohana, friends, school and community groups
- Wear clothing you don’t mind getting dirty
- Old athletic shoes or tabis
- Gloves
- Sunscreen
- Reusable water bottle
Bonus:
- Educational tours of the fishpond
- They will provide a light lunch!

Directions:
- Take Kāneʻohe Bay Drive to Castle High School
- At traffic light, turn right onto Pu‘ohala street
- Make your first right onto Kulauli Street.
- Follow the road past Puohala Elementary School until you reach the fork in the road. Go left and follow the dirt road until the end.
