Kūamahi - Community Education

Our inoa Kūamahi is a reference to our ali’i, Kamehameha (and his Mahi lineage) during the times that he would stand with and work alongside the maka’aināna. This ‘ano and hana of Kamehameha describes our approach in our work – to stand within and working with community.

We are guided by the Kamehameha Schools Strategic Vision of 2040 and our Education System Hawaiian Culture Based Education Definition, Kūamahi utilizes Hawaiian ways of knowing and teaching for our learners so that our communities are healthy places to thrive.

Ho‘omāka‘ika‘i is a one-week residential boarding program for students entering grade 6 and 7. Students engage in hands-on learning activities focused on cultural values and practices to develop Hawaiian identity and leadership.
