Kamehameha Schools (KS) is dedicated to serving Hawaiian learners through a variety of educational programs. Halau ‘O Kapikohānaiāmālama offers incredible educational opportunities that inspire passion for learning and enable young learners to be successful and prepared for the next school year. Halau ‘O Kapikohānaiāmālama– The life source that feeds and nourishes. The mana’o behind this inoa is that the piko (place or program) is the center from which wisdom, knowledge, understanding and life lessons will be taught to sustain our haumāna physically, spiritually as well as provide a firm grounding in their Hawaiian identity. With ‘āina as the center of dynamic, vital learning experiences blending rigorous and authentic culture-based Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, Math (STEAM), literacy pieces, and creative exploration, our keiki and ‘ōpio will grow their skills as innovators and stewards of today and tomorrow.
Kamehameha Schools’ policy on admission is to give preference to applicants of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law.

Maui Summer School is open to students entering grades 6, 7 and 8 in Fall 2017
Once Admissions receives your child’s application, we will mail you an email confirmation so you know that it was received. Enrollment is subject to availability of classes. Kamehameha Schools reserves the right to cancel any class if enrollment falls below the minimum required.
Kamehameha Schools’ Maui Summer School program will be held from:
Two 2-week sessions (applicants can apply to both or either of the sessions)
Session A: June 14 – June 27, 2017
Session B: June 28 – July 12, 2017
Program Hours: Middle School 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Tuesday, July 4 is a holiday.

Financial Aid is available. Applicants who demonstrate financial need may receive full awards to cover tuition and transportation fees. To apply, complete the Financial Aid section in the online application. Deadline to apply for financial aid is February 15, 2017.
Tuition and Transportation: The cost for tuition is based on session(s) attending. Transportation is also provided for an additional fee. Please refer to the table below for applicable charges.
Space Availability: Spaces will be filled based on the date your application is received and course availability. Enrollment is subject to availability of classes. Kamehameha Schools reserves the right to cancel any class if enrollment falls below the minimum required.
Attendance Policy: Daily attendance is critical if students are to master course materials. Absences due to family trips and vacations, games and/or athletic tournaments are discouraged and students who are unable to commit to both or either of the session should not apply. See the course catalog for specific information.
Explorations Series Program Applicants: Students planning to apply to both an Explorations Series program and Maui Summer School are recommended to request attendance to Explorations Series programs offered during Week 6 (7/16 – 7/21/2017).
NOTE: Students in grade 6-8 may not be absent for more than three (3) days and students. (Please review Attendance Policy)
Payment: Do not send payment with the application. You will be advised of the total amount due in your program invite letter. FULL payment must be received by May15, 2017 in order for final enrollment to be confirmed.
Refunds and Course Withdrawals: Once a space has been reserved for a student and paperwork has been processed, refunds will be made according to the following schedule:
Through May 22, 2017. . . . . . . . . . . Full refund, less $25.00
From June 1, 2017 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .No refund
Session A – $200 | Session B – $200
Sessions A & B – $400
Round Trip – $50
Notification Letters: Letters will be mailed in April.
Enrollment Agreement: Enrollment agreement and additional documentation must be received by May 1, 2017.
Enrollment Packet: Class schedules and T-shirts will be available (for families) by June 7, 2017.
Religious Affiliation: Kamehameha is a Christian, non-denominational Protestant school.
POLICY TO GIVE PREFERENCE TO HAWAIIAN APPLICANTS
Kamehameha Schools’ policy on admissions is to give preference to applicants of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law. If you would like to be considered under that policy, your Hawaiian ancestry must be verified by Kamehameha’s Ho‘oulu Hawaiian Data Center (Data Center). Please work directly with the Data Center staff to complete your ancestry determination as soon as you can and preferably no later than the program’s application deadline of February 15, 2017.

Legal Guardianship Verification
If there have been changes affecting your child’s legal name, custody or legal guardianship, you will be asked to submit all necessary legal documents prior to your child’s enrollment in the Kamehameha Schools program.
