Kilohana is an `Ōiwi STEAM program designed to develop Hawaiian cultural identity, knowledge and skills in STEAM, math proficiency, and college/career readiness for our haumāna. A 6-week summer day program commences a year-long range of sustained and diverse programming (i.e. STEAM challenges, huaka`i, intersession, `ohana activities) throughout the school year.
Kilohana Programs and who may apply:
Kilohana Hāna, Maui
Non KS students entering grades 6 or 7 in Fall 2017 and who reside in the district of and between Kipahulu and Keanae on the island of Maui.
Non KS students entering grades 6 or 7 in Fall 2017 and who reside on the island of Moloka`i.
Non KS students entering grades 6, 7 or 8 in Fall 2017 and who reside or who currently attends a school located on the Wai`anae Coast.
Kilohana West Hawaiʻi
Non KS students entering grades 6, 7 or 8 in Fall 2017 and who reside between the West Hawai`i boundaries of Pa`auilo to Ocean View.

Kamehameha’s policy on admission is to give preference to applicants of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law.
Program Location, Dates and Hours
Tuesday, June 13, 2017 – Friday, July 21, 2017 (July 4th is a holiday)
8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Program Selection: Final selection to the Kilohana West Hawai`i is done by random computer selection (lottery).
Notification Letters: Notification letters will be mailed out in April 2017.
Program Fee Payment: Students invited to participate in Kilohana West Hawai`i will be charged a fee of $120. Payment will be requested in your program notification letter.
Program Fee Waiver: If you would like to apply for a program fee waiver, please complete the fee waiver section of the online application. The fee waiver form and all supporting documents must be received by February 15, 2017.
Attendance Policy: Daily attendance is critical if students are to master course materials. Absences due to family trips and vacations, games and/or athletic tournaments are discouraged and students who are unable to commit to the full summer program should not apply. See program handbook for specific information.
Applicant’s Applying to Another KS Summer Program:
If you plan to apply your child to another KS summer program, please review the respective program’s attendance policy and program dates. It is strongly recommended that a student does NOT miss the first and last week of the Kilohana program.
Religious Affiliation: Kamehameha is a Christian, non-denominational Protestant school.

Kamehameha Schools’ policy on admissions is to give preference to applicants of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law. If you would like to be considered under that policy, your Hawaiian ancestry must be verified by Kamehameha’s Ho`oulu Hawaiian Data Center (Data Center).

Legal Guardianship Verification
If there have been changes affecting your child’s legal name, custody or legal guardianship, you will be asked to submit all necessary legal documents prior to your child’s enrollment in the Kamehameha Schools Program.
